Riverside Information

Riverside is the twelfth largest city in California, and the largest city in the Inland Empire. Its proximity to Hollywood combined with its many unique architectural features, has made it a frequent filming choice by Hollywood film studios. The Mission Inn, the largest Mission Revival Style building in the United States, has been a particularly favorite backdrop. It is estimated that the film industry adds over forty million dollars annually to Riverside’s revenue.

The city is still home to one of two original orange trees planted in California, as well as the California Citrus State Historic Park. Riverside is the birthplace of the California citrus industry, and the University of California, Riverside, the largest employer in the city, maintains a citrus experimental station and a salinity lab on its campus. The city is also the home of La Sierra University and California Baptist University. Other large educational employers include the Riverside Unified School District, the Alvord Unified School District, and Riverside Community College.

Riverside is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States, and is also ranked as one of the best places to live. Compared with other cities in Southern California, real estate prices in Riverside are significantly lower than those in adjacent counties. This has led to steady growth in Riverside.
